Hemostaseology

Hemostaseology - Coagulation Treatment in Düsseldorf

Hemostaseology is the study of blood coagulation and its disorders. The main task of the hemostasis system is to prevent and stop bleeding through blood clotting. Blood clotting disorders are complex and multifaceted. They can lead to thrombosis, embolism or bleeding and can be acquired or congenital. Blood clotting ensures that, in the event of an injury, the blood clots and the wound closes. However, it is important to prevent clotting in the wrong place (e.g. in the blood vessels of the legs). This is called thrombosis.

Congenital or acquired imbalances in this system can lead to unhealthy blood loss (e.g. after surgery) or in the case of excessive clotting, it can cause thromboses, pulmonary embolisms, heart attacks, strokes, pregnancy complications, etc.

Thanks to modern diagnostic procedures and blood tests, the exact cause of bleeding or thrombosis tendency can be identified in most patients. This enables us, as your treating practice, to initiate targeted treatment. In our Düsseldorf practice we focus on coagulation medicine, and offer not only specialist diagnostics but also detailed consultation and therapy.
